On Tuesday, July 25th, the Liberal City Commission addressed the following items during their regularly scheduled meeting:
Al Shank, Al Shank Insurance, presented commissioners with a dividend payment in the amount of $131,854.07 acquired through the City’s policyholder participation in the EMC Insurance Company.
Damien Denmark, Seward County Development Corporation, provided an update on business development activities from Retail Strategies consulting group. Denmark also requested to have rental fees for the Randall Girl Scout Building waived for use during upcoming Food Truck Saturday events hosted at Light Park. Commissioners voted to waive the fee.
Consent Agenda items (Airport Leases), approved by the Commission.
City employee health insurance options for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage were presented. After discussion, Commissioners voted to retain Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Kansas medical and dental coverage as presented, transition to an employer paid comprehensive vision plan from VSP, and renew life insurance coverage through Advance.
Approved the use of the Federal Funds Exchange program with the Kansas Department of Transportation.
Approved utility easement access for a Dollar General property location.
Six housing grant assistance programs – New Construction Housing Incentive, Home Repair Program, First Time Home Buyer Grant, Paint the Town, Safe at Home, and the Water System Improvement Fee Waiver – were presented for commissioners with recommended updates. Commissioners voted to approve each grant program.
